Mission

Since inception in 1978, irs-aims mission has been to provide cost-effective automation products for independent property/casualty agencies and Texas insurance company offices. Quality software with dependable customer service is our goal.

History

In 1978 Insurance Rating Systems developed the first automated Personal Lines Rating system in Texas. Using readily available microcomputers, installations of this new system expanded rapidly. Development of additional lines of business continued resulting in release of the Texas Commercial Lines Rating system in 1980.

Users of the IRS rating system requested and encouraged development of a simple in-house database and accounting system. With the availability of affordable hard disk storage systems in 1982, we released AIMS (Agency Information Management System.) This system was made available nationwide and agencies across the country began replacing manual and batch processing systems with this new single entry software.

Technological advances and decreasing hardware costs allowed irs-aims to continually enhance both the rating and agency management products. Many time saving and productivity enhancing features were added. In 1987 we began a major rewrite project for both systems resulting in release of MAGIC. MAGIC offered integration of data between rating, proposals, ACORD applications, and agency management components. This DOS based system provided agencies with a complete office management package. Current clients received this upgrade at no cost and the affordable pricing of the software allowed even small agencies to take advantage of the benefits of an integrated system.

In the early 1990’s, deregulation of the Texas Insurance industry provided a new opportunity to help agencies. irs-aims began offering an automated service to keep company Flex Bands and Loss Cost Multipliers updated This service saves untold man hours in data entry and improves accuracy at the agency level.

In 1995, in response to continued technological advances, IRS-AIMS began development of an entirely new Windows 95/98 based agency management system. With much input from our Users Group and a lengthy needs analysis process, the new MARS system went into beta test in April 1998. After six months beta testing, the MARS system was released. Designed specifically for the Windows environment and utilizing an SQL database, MARS combines the latest in technology with a simple and easy-to-use style. All existing AIMS users are provided special upgrade pricing.

In September 2000 MAGIC For Windows was released. This new rating system provides true comparative rating for personal lines and simplifies data entry by using a standard Windows user interface.

irs-aims software is now in use in over 1000 locations nationwide. Our Texas based MAGIC Rating software remains the most comprehensive rating software available in the state, and our MARS system provides a feature full management system at costs much less than many competitors.

Our expertise in insurance and computer technology gives us a unique advantage and through the years has enabled us to anticipate and meet the ever-changing processing needs of insurance agencies.

The Company

Insurance Rating Systems, Inc. is a privately held Texas corporation. In business since 1978, we remain one of the oldest independent and privately held automation vendors in the industry.

Any organization is only as good as it’s employees and we pride ourselves on the quality people who make up our staff. The company enjoys an average tenure of over 10 years among our 25 employees. Our customer support staff has backgrounds in agency operations, company operations, and accounting. Our technical support staff are certified as Novell support (CNE) technicians and are working on Microsoft certification.
