RECOMMENDED: N/A RECOMMENDED: Sound card and speakers
IMPORTANT: Each workstation must have a minimum of 520K base memory available (after VLM's, TSR's and menus are loaded) for MAGIC to work properly.

Trustee Assignments

To simplify loading new releases and third party software, the trustee rights need to be setup as follows:

	Group Name      Trustee Directory Assignments

	IRSAIMS	       SYS:\         [ R   F ]
		       SYS:APPS      [ RWCEMF ]
	Make sure all users are added to group IRSAIMS.

NOTE: You can either use the MAP ROOT command and map a drive letter to directory APPS or create a separate volume for application software. All of Insurance Rating Systems' software will be copied to the APPS directory or second volume. Our software must run from a root directory.

System Login Script

The following must be set in the System Login script for our software to work properly:

		map ins s1:=sys:public
		map ins s2:=sys:
		map root g:=sys:apps

If you create a second volume, substitute the correct map command for MAP ROOT shown above. Do not load MAGIC into the SYS: root drive (F:\).

Menus

At the current time, IRS-AIMS only supports the menu program that comes with Novell.

Printers

You may use PSERVER.NLM for printing services. IRS-AIMS' software will print locally or on the system printer through the print spooler.

You must create an ENDCAP.BAT file in the SYS:PUBLIC with the CAPTURE /ENDCAP command in it for our printer redirection to work properly. The ENDCAP command is hard coded in our software.

When you create the following printjobs, make sure they are public jobs so you do not need to create one for every user.

1. You must setup a DEFAULT form using PRINTDEF as shown below:

2.  You must setup two print job configurations DEFAULT and AIMSCON using PRINTCON as shown below:

Default

Aimscon

3. You may create another print job named 2NDPRTR. This will allow the users to access a third system printer through AIMS.

2ndprtr

NOTE: The print queues may be different depending on what you name them.

Workstation Drivers

irs-aims recommends using the DOS Requester for your workstations along with MSDOS V6.22 for best results. Make sure you use V1.20, or newer of the VLM.EXE (11-8-94 or newer) and all associated VLM modules.

NOTE: You must also load the SHARE command on each workstation. According to Novell, it must be loaded AFTER the workstation drivers to work properly.

Windows 3.1 and 3.11

MAGIC Rating, AIMS and ACORD are all DOS programs. They will run under Window 3.x.  You will need to setup icons to access our software.  You will need to use the workstation drivers mentioned above.

Windows 95 and  98

You will need to use the Novell Netware Client 32 version 2.2 or later.  You will also need to setup shortcuts for the MAGIC programs.

 If you have any specific questions you can call 210-658-4691 and ask for technical support.
