PC Anywhere 10.5 (or newer) and a 56K modem (a broadband Internet connection is preferred) to support your network.
Internet accessibility for download of patches from our web site.
High Speed DAT/DLT IV/LTO-1 Tape Backup installed in the server.

IRS-AIMS does not require you to purchase hardware from us. Your local supplier must, however, follow specific guidelines for the installation and configuration of the file server, network operating system, printer set up, and all other configuration issues.

Please contact our technical support staff if you need additional information regarding hardware or network operating system requirements. Techsupport@irsaims.com or 1-800-876-1466

Staff Training

Your agency personnel should all be trained and know how to effectively use Windows 2000/XP, Microsoft Word, and have a basic understanding of the network setup BEFORE upgrading to MARS. Training for these software packages should be available locally for most agencies.

Your agency needs to designate (and train) one person as a "SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR." Your System Administrator is responsible for general network and system maintenance. In the absence of a trained network administrator on site it will be your agency’s responsibility to coordinate with your hardware technician for availability at the time of your upgrade. This will be important to reduce downtime and to assure smooth operation of your system. It is also your System Administrator’s responsibility to coordinate system usage, staff questions, and reports to IRS-AIMS of any system errors.
